Gentou is the music created by guitarist and songwriter Paul Kench.

The songs on my album "Sketches" were written over a long period of time - many of the ideas and various parts of songs have been turning over in my mind for a number of years.

I decided that i had enough ideas, strands, and parts of songs to piece together an album that expressed my musical ideas and influences - if only for my own personal satisfaction.

In a short, intense period I managed to piece these fragments together into a coherent set of songs to record in a studio.

Getting from that moment of having the raw material ready for an album to finishing all the recording, mixing, and mastering has taken a long time!

However, i am very pleased with the result and many thanks to Andy at Gatehouse Studios (where the album was recorded, mixed and mastered) for supporting, guiding and pushing me where necessary to get the best possible results.

I was also greatly assisted in the making of this album by Julian Pugsley, Joe Brown and Chris Scrivens - on backing vocals, bass guitar, harmonica, keyboards, and drums. Thanks guys, i really appreciate your help in making this album a reality - and for being such great friends too.

Now the album is ready I have decided the best thing to do is put it out myself and play a few gigs to fully enjoy the live experience of the songs I have written (which after all is the best part!)

My first live gig as Gentou will be the album launch gig at The Beehive in Swindon on Sunday 26th January 2014 at 3pm.
